This 2 hour class will follow along with the topics and memory work of Classical Conversations Cycle 1. Honoring the glory of God’s design, students will explore the intricacies of Biology in action! Class will be aimed at elementary aged students with activities that easily scale up and down to meet differing academic needs. Activities are designed to invite student participation as we explore creation, identify plants and animals, and fall in love with the nature of Florida in an engaging learning environment. Bring a bag lunch and get ready to explore!

Topics include:

  • Using the senses to gather information in the natural world

  • How to classify plants and animals based on characteristics

  • God's gift of fire and the importance in Native Florida habitat.... including How to make fire with a flint

  • Native Species: gopher tortoise, red-cockaded woodpecker, monarch butterfly, water birds, elderberry, goldenrod, the mother pine, Florida Salad (edibles)

** Becca Maglischo (teacher) holds a Bachelors of Science in Elementary and Middle grades Education as well as a minor in Science. She has a Masters Degree from AT Still University in Human Development and Exercise Sciences.
