We don’t snack a lot at our house. Generally speaking, we eat meals when we are hungry and then we don’t eat in between….as a general rule. But I love snacks. I especially love snacks when we are on car trips, when I am hiking, and when we are camping. Occasionally, I also find myself in a sticky situation where I really need to eat and a meal just isn’t an option. Enter the Snacks (complete with Superhero cape) to save the day!Read More
Choooooooooocolate. I love chocolate. My kids love chocolate. I need my kids to eat breakfast and I can’t always be elaborate about it….. or patient for that matter. It takes every ounce of everything I have sometimes not to scream at my oldest to Eat-Your-Food-Dammit-So-I-Can-Be-Done-Feeding-People!!!!!!Read More
I LOVE A GOOD STRAWBERRY!!!
Strawberries are in season here in Central Florida and I am in heaven. I love taking the boys to pick them fresh, eating them right out of the field. I love seeing them with red juice dripping down their chins and strawberry mud on their fingers. And I REALLY love turning the strawberries into delicious, healthy eats! You will love these Strawberry Shortcakes. The shortcake portion can easily be amended into Blueberry Muffins or cinnamon muffins, too. The recipe makes 3 jumbo muffins or 6 regular muffins. I suggest doubling it! ;-) As an extra bonus, this can be made without a mixer and is easy enough for my four yr old to essentially do alone with just supervision.Read More
In the Not So Fab Five, I confessed that things have been pretty shitty. In reality, my brain had been mostly shitty more so than my actual life. Anyways, when it’s Not So Fab, the best thing to do is to Fake it til You’re Fab. The only way to get somewhere different is to take a step. And so this edition of Becca’s Fab Five is dedicated to taking steps in the right direction til it’s all Fab again.
In this one, I give you my Mac and Cheese recipe, remind you to check out all our info on feet, tell you how we protect from the sun and yet my kids have that amazing "glow" everyone talks about (it's not sunscreen!), talk about the difference between being BROKEN and being Broken Open, and give you the link to the magical sunflower seeds that grow the beauties by my front door. I hope you enjoy!!Read More
The crux of the matter is that many of the questions can be lumped together because they are all so wrong that it doesn't even matter what the question was in the first place. The very QUESTION is wrong. The answer is so much simpler than the question actually!Read More

Every so often, you just have to have Mac and Cheese. If that Mac and Cheese could also be pretty darn good for you AND super Yummy, well, how do you say no? You may have noticed that I am super late with the Fab Five this month. You also may not have noticed, and that’s ok, too. But I noticed. I actually noticed every single one of the ways I have sucked since about the second week of January. A huge dark cloud has been hanging over me and try as I might, I simply could not find any light. Was I depressed? Hell, I don’t know… maybe. I have no doubt that many doctors would’ve happily slapped a script in my hand and patted my tush as I walked out the door. Problem solved. I’ve gone that route and I don’t like that Becca.Read More
Of all my adventures, having children has marked me the most deeply. I’m not sure I can string together the words to explain something that has cut into me so very deeply and yet simultaneously covered all the other marks. Having children plunged me into the battle of my life between complete selfishness and utter selflessness. And this battle rages daily in a way I never expected. There isn’t any real balance to this gig. The hope is that you are happy at the end of it all, though, and that feels like too big a gamble to just go at it haphazardly. Yikes!
Lord knows, I'm not getting all of this right. Most days, I question if I am getting ANY of it right. But if I am good at anything, it is creating frameworks within which I can try to make sense of the senseless.... This is how I am currently waging war on my own daily battle.Read More
With a renewed sense of responsibility and an awareness of the good that can be accomplished (if he could just harness the power of fire), he sets out into the woods to try to decipher what items will burn. What will work as tender, what will light quickly or burn slowly?Read More
I LOVE the Human Body with all of its mysteries and intricacies. New products and science are always coming down the pipe and it's hard to know what to read, where to spend your dollars, and when to focus your energy. I thought it would be helpful to show you just FIVE things I'm loving each month. Maybe a recipe, or a book, or an exercise or stretch..... Maybe a product, or a podcast, or a restaurant or venue. I'm giving you ONE THING in each of the areas of our Four Cornerstones or Health, plus a bonus. I hope you'll try them in your life and find a benefit for you!Read More
