Hiking in the Florida Scrub- Activity and Song
Everybody loves to spot creatures on a hike! I wrote this hiking song to help my boys begin to learn some of the creatures we might see in our local scrub. This is our main hiking song and we rarely hit the woods without singing… which ensures that we actually see NO wildlife, ironically. LOL! Before you do the song, it’s fun to make some “Owl Eyes” binoculars out of toilet paper tubes, masking tape and yarn. You can also print off these Florida Creatures. Cut them out and put them around the house or the yard for your imaginary hike. Fun hats and backpacks make it extra fun, too! After the hike, invite a child to place the animals somewhere for you to find with your Owl Eyes. This is a great chance to talk about camouflage and mimicry in animals. You might enjoy sharing these pictures of animals camouflaged in the wild.
