Overview
Shipwrecked is an immersive, literature-based adventure experience designed to engage children in hands-on exploration, teamwork, and practical survival skills. Throughout the week, participants will journey through the book Kidnapped in Key West, integrating storytelling with interactive activities that reinforce themes of resilience, navigation, problem-solving, and discovery.
Core Components
• Daily reading from Kidnapped in Key West with guided discussion and reflection.
• Creation of handmade parchment journals to log discoveries, experiments, skills learned, and
reflections.
• Navigation activities including creating a sundial and following treasure maps using compasses.
• Learning and practicing a new knot each day.
• Hands-on science experiments exploring salinity and water filtration.
• Problem-solving challenges connected to survival scenarios.
Learning Goals
• Strengthen listening comprehension and literary analysis skills.
• Develop practical navigation and outdoor skills.
• Engage in scientific inquiry through experimentation.

Environment & Structure
