I fear connection. To really connect with someone is so personal. Yet, to give that connection is the ultimate gift. Connection is a personal investment and a selfless gift. The more you give, the more deeply invested you become, and the more you risk emotionally.

It can be a bit difficult to transition from the over-scheduled, entertainment-filled expectations of the outside world to the setting of Nature School. Often times, we struggle with the desire to fill every second and keep kids on the move. We wrestle with the ability to give kids responsibility and then back off and let them do their thing. We fear the problems they will encounter and the big feelings they might have to feel. This is a disservice to our young people!

This is a new FAVORITE!! I made this last week when I was invited to a Middle Eastern Feast. I had no idea what to bring, like not a clue. So I reviewed a few recipes and this is the resulting recipe. It is so delicious and the warm flavors would pair so good with a winter squash soup or the Stuffed Acorn Squash.

My boat is barely afloat right now, lest you think I have it all (or anything for that matter) together right now. For the last 6 months, it has been a constant bailing of water that just doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I think you've probably felt this way before. Most people have, right?
He slipped right back into our bed and right back into our lives without much fanfare. Right back to work the next day. Damn. That's not how I wanted it to go.
Mark and I were never supposed to get married. We said so on our first date. I was divorced and cynical and he was an amazing bachelor.

I don't get upset about these sorts of questions. When you do life different than the norm, in any way, people are curious. They become fascinated and interested when you calmly share your story and perspective. This is the approach I try to take. I'm not trying to "win" anybody to my side or convince anyone my way is magical. Turns out, parenting isn't a religion.... or a war.
Dear pregnant client, you will be fine. I promise. Ignore the voices of the people around you and listen to your heart. Remember that every moment is fleeting, even the hard ones, and in a flash you will live in these moments rather than the present because YOU ARE “IN IT” right now. All in, 100%.
I've been spending a lot of time assessing our business, Haka Fitness. We've been open just over 6 yrs, but in our current location almost four. The fitness industry is a tough one and the failure rate of "gyms" is very high. That we have made it 6 yrs is basically a miracle, statistically.

It's also a grand adventure. At least, that's what I try to tell my kids. Most days, I am shocked at their willingness to embrace the constant changes. It makes me wonder where else in their lives am I so carefully managing the details that they are missing the chance to become even more fluid.
That all sounds so smooth when I write it out like that. It hasn't been. I have thirty something years of writing stories in my head and then breaking myself (and others) to make the storyline come true. Correction: to TRY to make the storylines come true.
I've put a lot of thought into starting this journal. I don't think there is a choice anymore. It's so hard to tell what's real and what's curated in the world, while it's easy to feel like you are screwing the whole thing up. You're not. And neither am I.
